From interviewing 200+ artists to producing and presenting a podcast with over 1 million listeners, Laurie Charlesworth’s extensive knowledge and sheer obsession with music/radio has catapulted her into being a vastly respected and staple voice in dance music/D&B journalism.
The London based presenter/radio DJ - known best for hosting deep yet comedic, long-form interviews with some of dance music’s biggest artists - has been successfully cementing her stance within the music industry since early 2012. From interviewing the likes of Chase & Status, Carl Cox, Goldie, Andy C, Mike Skinner, High Contrast, Kurupt FM, Novelist, Flava D and many more, Laurie’s work in bringing out the weird ‘n’ wonderful sides of the artists she interviews is renowned and adored by both artists and ravers internationally.
Currently hosting a drive-time, weekly radio show on Kool FM (Rinse), Laurie is loved by fans from across the globe. She is simultaneously acclaimed for her two and a half year stint hosting Drum & Bass Radio by DnB Allstars - a hybrid podcast/radio show ranked as Spotify’s No.1 Music and Talk show with over 1 million listeners - and for making history at the BBC in 2019 as the first female to host the Radio 1 Drum & Bass Show.
Laurie’s expertise within music, however, ventures much deeper than her work on the mic, having worked behind the scenes as part of the management team for legendary Drum & Bass artists Andy C and Adam F. Not to mention her freelance work in radio and content production at Kiss FM, BBC Radio 1xtra, Asian Network and Skiddle.
Alongside this midland born presenters work in music and radio - with her current output for her written interviews being one of bass music’s biggest editorial platforms, UKF - Laurie also works in the charity sector. Back in 2020, she created an award winning charity programme at Young Urban Arts Foundation called YUAF Futures. The programme helps 16-19 year olds from communities challenged by inequality get into their chosen workplace through up-skilling and work experience.
Whether dabbling in different creative ventures or producing a podcast for an international brand, Laurie is consistently pushing boundaries and is recognised for being instrumental in the development of modern music journalism and audio.
